A custom WooCommerce build for Beyk, creating a warm, flexible online shop for its artisan bakery range. Bespoke functionality supports mix-and-match cookie pricing, meal upgrades and a growing catalogue, while keeping the customer journey simple and intuitive.
Project Summary
A custom WooCommerce website for Fareham-based artisan bakery Beyk, combining a growing food and bakery catalogue with bespoke ecommerce functionality including mix and match multibuy pricing, meal options and a more flexible customer ordering experience.
The Situation
Beyk needed an ecommerce website capable of supporting a varied and continually growing product range, from focaccia sandwiches and savoury food through to cakes, cookies, Filipino bakes, afternoon tea and other sweet treats.
The challenge went beyond simply adding products to WooCommerce. Different parts of the range needed different purchasing behaviour, including promotional pricing across selected products and additional options around Beyk’s lunch offering.
The website therefore needed to provide customers with a straightforward shopping experience while giving Beyk the flexibility to introduce new products, categories and promotions without being restricted by standard WooCommerce functionality.
Solutions & Improvements
WooCommerce was structured around Beyk's varied product catalogue, creating clear product and category pathways while providing a flexible foundation for new ranges, seasonal products and future ecommerce growth.
Bespoke WooCommerce functionality was developed for Beyk's cookie range, allowing eligible cookies to be purchased individually for £3.50 or mixed and matched at three for £10, with the promotional pricing handled automatically through the ordering journey.
Custom ecommerce functionality was created around Beyk's lunch offering, allowing qualifying products to work with the separate "Make It a Beyk Meal" option and creating a more natural ordering experience than standard WooCommerce products could provide alone.
The shop navigation was developed around Beyk's growing catalogue, including structured product categories, improved mobile navigation and control over which internal or empty categories should be visible to customers.
Product browsing and purchasing were refined throughout the store to make the distinction between viewing product information, adding products to the basket and purchasing directly clearer for customers across desktop and mobile.
The Outcome
The completed website gives Beyk a flexible WooCommerce platform capable of supporting both its current product range and the continued growth of the business.
Rather than relying entirely on standard WooCommerce behaviour, bespoke functionality allows the website to reflect how Beyk actually sells its products, including the cookie multibuy promotion and its custom lunch meal offering.
The result is a more practical ecommerce platform that allows Beyk to introduce new products, ranges and promotions while maintaining a consistent and straightforward ordering experience for customers.

What I really like is that when I come up with a new idea for Beyk, the conversation isn’t immediately about what the website can’t do. We can talk through how I want it to work for the customer and find a practical way of building it.
The result is a website that looks like Beyk, works around the way we run the business, and gives us plenty of room to keep developing it as the range grows.
